Event Spotlight: St. Patrick's Day

This year the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House held their annual fundraiser on March 6th at the Millennium Centre. The theme was St. Patrick’s Day Bash and it was filled with all things green and rainbow colored! There was an excellent silent auction and all of the money raised wen to the Ronald McDonald House. Here is a quick peek into the event this year. 

IACC Approved Venues

25th Silver Screen Event

The Millennium Centre was transformed this weekend for the 25th Annual Spirit Gala. It is an annual event put on by the Mountain States Foundation to celebrate how far Niswonger Children’s hospital has come and the outlook for the future. The theme for the evening was “Silver Screen” and everyone was dressed to the nines.  Congratulations on a wonderful evening celebrating the past and the present!

We have been pinnin’ up a storm of good ideas for you over on our Sodexo Pinterest page. There is a combination of great food ideas to make your event special along with décor ideas that meeting planners can incorporate at our venues. Keep in mind that many of our properties are in great locations that you can draw inspiration from in terms of decor and themes. You could incorporate a green or outdoor theme for locations like Pickwick Gardens or San Ramon Valley Conference Center. Tap into a varsity theme centered on football when choosing a location like The Millennium Centre. Whatever you decide for your theme, make sure it is "Pin Worthy" and will leave your guests talking about the atmosphere for months to come.

Rocking Events at The Millennium Centre

We’re talking green meetings today, and not the kind that are green initiatives or sustainable. While our Sodexo Conferencing venues have these certifications, we are talking green events in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Check out the recent special event at The Millennium Centre where everything was green, even down to the enhanced trees and the photo booth props. The event was a fundraiser for the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Festive New Year Event

The Millennium Centre kicked off the new year with a very festive event put on by the Mountain States Foundation.

The 2014 Spirit Gala benefited the Mountain States Radiation Oncology Services.

With over 400 people in attendance, the event was a huge success. The event committee did a great job of adding decor to the table and ceiling that brought a lot of color into the ballroom. We would like to thank the Mountain States Foundation for hosting this event at the Millennium Centre.

Meeting Planner Summits

"The industry is changing every day and that puts more demand on planners," says Sean Anderson, VP of Operations for Sodexo Conferencing. As such, the company has heeded the call for more resources and learning opportunities by piloting a program of annual Meeting Planner Summits. Held at various Sodexo conference centers across the country, the popular series features actionable and relevant content targeted to professional conference and meeting planners.

Just this year, the Meeting Planner Summits were certified by the Convention Industry Council, allowing 12 continuing education credits for planners who attend a session.

Topics during the two days of education cover such issues as developing industry guidelines for determining capacity in non-traditional venues; finding methods for calculating meeting ROI; looking into the effect healthy eating has on an individual's ability to retain information in conference settings; and tips for managing contract attrition and negotiation.

The Millennium Center was the host of the Meeting Planner Summit held in May. Approximately 40 meeting planners attend for 2-days of education. Thank you to all of the planners who attended and we hope that you will join us for the next installment of the Meeting Planner Summit.
