BBQ at Sodexo Property

Mandy Volpe - Wednesday, September 28, 2016

The sky is the limit when it comes to choosing a theme for your event. For the fall, the perfect theme is a mix of rustic, white pumpkins, and BBQ. Check out this interesting set up at Pickwick Gardens for a BBQ affair. The tables were set up with cowboy hats, twinkle lights, and bandanas. Pickwick Gardens accented the event with a BBQ. The menu consisted of delicious brisket, BBQ chicken, pulled pork, sausage, and corn on the cob.  Guests enjoyed the atmosphere and food which made for a perfect event.

Social Media for Events

Mandy Volpe - Tuesday, August 30, 2016
Social media for events is not a new trend, but it is a trend that should be incorporated into your meetings. Social media helps event attendees engage before, during and after the event. Here are a few tips for using social media effectively for your event.

1) Create buzz

Begin by creating a hashtag for your event. Include the hashtag on all promotional materials including your event website. You will want to let everyone know that the hashtag exists so that attendees can start creating a conversation online. You should use the hashtag to create buzz by leaking speaker bios, insider information, and early bird ticket discounts.

2) Live Feed

There are quite a few options for live feed in the social media space. From Facebook Live to Instagram Stories, you can choose a platform to showcase live video snippets from your event. This allows an online conversation to take place as well as show people what they are missing if they aren't in the room.

3) Stay Active During the Conference

Posting frequently during the conference will encourage attendees to post their photos as well. Tag the Sodexo property or event location where your meeting is taking place. Also posting up-to-date schedule changes or pictures from sessions will leave a legacy of content for the future.

4) Don't Let The Flame Die
Continue posting after the event. Whether it is links to videos on YouTube from the conference or pictures from the meeting, post them after the event. This will keep the buzz going that you worked so hard to create in step 1.

Best of luck with your meeting planning and incorporating more social media into your communication plan.

Meeting Debrief Checklist

Mandy Volpe - Thursday, August 18, 2016
Planning a meeting comes with a long to-do list in order to ensure success for event attendees. Beyond the event, it is important to analyze the success of the meeting and gather feedback from attendees. Schedule time after the meeting to debrief your event. Things to consider when debriefing:
  • Objectives- Did you meet the goals of your meeting? Did you gather your team at one of our executive board rooms to accomplish corporate planning? Did you walk away with a boast in team morale and synergy? These are all great questions to ask during your debriefing process.
  • Location- Was the location convenient and easily accessible by 90% of attendees?
  • Timing- Was the meeting held on one day or spread out across multiple days? Maybe attendees would like a multi-day meeting schedule in order to spread out the processing time of knowledge that is learned during the meeting.
Are you ready to find a location for your next event that can help guide you in pre-planning your meeting? Our Sodexo teams are ready to help you in planning a successful meeting that will leave you with 5 star ratings in your debrief.  Search our property map to get started today.

Location is Everything

Mandy Volpe - Thursday, July 28, 2016

There are a couple of factors to consider when choosing a location for your event. You need to consider ease of transportation, cost, technology, and room capacities. Another factor to consider is the local community. Will there be activities and places for attendees to visit after the meeting is over?

For example, Chase on the Riverfront is located in downtown Wilmington along the Christiana River. There are always a plethora of activities in the area such as museums, beer gardens, and festivals. This summer there is a special "Shipyard Summer Concert Series" which runs for 8 weeks on Thursday nights. It is a great way for attendees to enjoy the local community after a productive day of meetings.

What factors do you consider when choosing a location for your meeting?
