Memorable Awards Banquet

Make your awards banquet memorable. Here are a few ideas to make a lasting impression on the honorees of your event.

1) Slide Show.

Incorporate pictures of the people being honored. Show pictures of them in action doing the activity that has earned them the award.

2) Location.

Choose a location that is centrally located to where the award winners volunteer, serve, or perform. This will ensure a large attendance from both those wanting to honor the award winner(s) as well as team mates or family members of the honoree. Choose a location that is large enough to accommodate the banquet tables in addition to a stage for the presentation.

3) Photo Worthy Event.

From the decor at the entrance to the stage, incorporate items that are cohesive with the school or organization for the honorees. This could happen in the form of school colors, brand colors of a company, or a signature color that represents the mission of the organization that the award winners spent hours serving.

Marketing Your Event

The key to a successful event is a well thought out marketing plan in order to ensure a sold out meeting. Here are a few ideas for marketing your next event.

Social Influencers

Identify local celebrities, community members, or brand enthusiasts who are active on social media. Tap into their network of friends by having them market your event. Have social influencers spread the word about your event through a variety of methods. The people who are social media all-stars can post about early registration, discount codes, and periodic updates about excitement leading up to the event.

Advertise Speakers

Attendees want to know that they will have a high return on investment from attending your meeting. Advertise the key note speakers and breakout sessions as early as possible. This will allow attendees to know about the content of the conference as well as generate buzz around the keynote speaker.

Video Testimonials

Have previous event attendees publish video testimonials from their experience at past meetings. You could also host Facebook Live videos as an informal Q & A about the meeting. Provide question and answers around what were key takeaways from previous meetings, what to expect for the coming year, and cost saving ideas such as sharing rooms at hotels or discounted shuttle information from the airport.

Event Spotlight: Johnson City, Tennessee

The Millennium Centre is a great Sodexo Conferencing property located in Johnson City, Tennessee. The month of April brings about awards banquets for many of the departments from East Tennessee State University. Recently, the Centre hosted the ETSU Buccaneer Athletics Award banquet which honored the athletes and their accomplishments. Congratulations to all of the winners and we wish you the best of luck in the remaining days of the season.

Brunch in California at Pickwick Gardens

The Easter Brunch at Pickwick Gardens was a huge success. The facility was beautifully set up with buffet tables filled with pastel linens. The Easter Egg hunt was enjoyed by the many guests who wore their Sunday best. Thank you to the many guests who chose to spend their holiday at the Sodexo Conferencing property in California.

Event Spotlight: Wizard of Paws

The Millennium Centre played host to the Humane Society of Washington County, Tennessee this past weekend. The theme for the Dogwood Cattails Ball was "Wizard of Paws" and featured movie references along with live animals. This was an excellent fundraiser to raise money for the four-legged animals of Washington County.

Event Recap: Millennium Centre

Last week, The Millennium Centre hosted the American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee for breakfast. The event was held to honor the Humanitarian of the Year, Scott Niswonger. The event also included keynote speaker, Dave Sanderson, survivor of the Miracle on the Hudson. It was a privilege for our Sodexo Conferencing property to host this event.
